Background & Motivation

Climate change poses major challenges for cities worldwide. The urban heat island effect (UHI) is particularly problematic, leading to rising temperatures, health problems, and a decline in quality of life. Urban planners must therefore consider measures to improve the urban microclimate early on.

At the same time, existing planning processes are often complex, time-consuming, and heavily reliant on specialized simulation tools. Access to microclimatic analyses requires technical expertise and hinders rapid, iterative decision-making. GreenCityMind addresses this challenge by combining modern generative artificial intelligence methods with digital city models and climate simulations to support planning processes in a more intuitive, efficient, and data-driven way.
